The United States Army Criminal Investigation Division Command (USACIDC) is looking for a Software-as-as-Service web application to help them track and trace illicit cryptocurrency transactions.

According to a working statement released on July 10, the USACIDC along with the Major Cybercrime Unit and the FBI will use the application to detect activities such as fraud, extortion and money laundering carried out using cryptocurrencies.

The organization accepts offers for web applications developed, tested and ready for implementation until July 20.

The application must allow multicurrency analysis

According to the USACIDC – an arm of the US military that conducts criminal investigations around the world – the web application they are looking for must be able to analyze Bitcoin (BTC) and other major cryptocurrencies in real time, while also allowing users to “conducting a thorough investigation into the source of cryptocurrency transactions.”

The document further explains that the cloud application should help USACIDC quickly detect “criminal and suspicious financial connections, identify suspicious cryptocurrency transactions and investigate cryptocurrency connections”.

The application should also have the ability to spot patterns of suspicious transactions and interactions with other entities and a link analysis tool to facilitate data analysis.

Last year, in July, the United States Army Contracting Command of New Jersey issued a pre-solicitation notice looking for a similar web application to help law enforcement track and identify individuals who use cryptocurrencies for illegal purposes.
