Cyberpunk 2077 production only began 100% in 2016, after the studio finished work on The Witcher 3’s second and final DLC, Blood and Wine. Starting with a team of around 50 employees, the number has grown exponentially, surpassing 400 in February 2019, with some publications indicating that this number may have hit 500. Even in its genesis, CD Projekt Red already knew this. this would be his biggest project ever.

The development of the game led CD Projekt Red to open new studios to help bring Cyberpunk 2077 to life. The Wroclaw studio joined the Warsaw and Krakow studios to bring the futuristic RPG to life. The growth of the game has always been closely linked to the growth of the studio, which benefited from investments from the Polish government, eventually becoming one of the most valuable European studios.

Information about the game was waning, feeding the voracious appetite of fans, more and more hungry to get their hands on what slowly promises to be CD Projekt Red’s masterpiece. Rumors and small details, everything served to increase the expectation.

In 2019, rumors are emerging that production may not go as planned. In an article published on Kotaku, Jason Schreier revealed that one of the producers involved in the development compared the process to that of Anthem, which was tainted by immense chaos.

It was at E3 2019 that the first release date of Cyberpunk 2077 was set, with all the honors and the presentation of Keanu Reeves, in a moment that has been recorded forever in the history of video games. Fans finally got a day to mark on their calendars – April 16, 2020 – and everything seemed to go according to plan.

The first postponement appears in January 2020, the launch falls in spring and September 17 becomes the new release date for Cyberpunk 2077. Expectations and rumors about next generation releases have grown. Shortly thereafter, the idea reappears that producers would be subjected to increasing pressure, forced into periods of crunch.

Three months before the new release date comes the second postponement. September is back and the new release date is set for November 19. The studio justifies the delay with the need to ensure the highest quality to the game and the fans understand this. The videos that present details, from weapons, to vehicles, to the style of the characters, multiply, the care and commitment that CD Projekt Red has put into the production of Cyberpunk 2077 becomes evident.

Closer and closer to the supposed final release date, more news emerges crunch in the company.
