A trailer for the upcoming The LEGO Star Wars Holiday Special is out. The movie actually looks funny, and it doesn’t look anything like the Star Wars Holiday Special released in 1978. In fact, it appears to be making fun of its predecessor.
Almost all of the main characters come together for this special – and this includes characters from the recent Skywalker Saga sequel trilogy like Rey, Finn, Poe, and even classic characters like Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader, Yoda, Obi-Wan, and Palpatine.
Oh, and there’s Baby Yoda too.
The story sees Rey, following the events of The Return of Skywalker, stumbles upon a mysterious Jedi temple and is thrown across the timelines, presumably causing them to intertwine together. This leads to some unexpected encounters and confrontations.
In one scene, Rey and Darth Vader, while engaged in a fight, take a moment to indulge in Baby Yoda together. Yes, it’s that kind of movie.
As I said, it looks downright funny, even if it doesn’t have to be taken seriously.
The official synopsis reads: “The LEGO Star Wars Holiday Special brings Rey, Finn, Poe, Chewie, Rose and the droids together for a joyful Day of Life party. Rey sets out on a new adventure with BB-8 to gain a deeper understanding of the world. Come on. In a mysterious Jedi Temple, she is launched on a cross-timeline adventure through beloved moments in Star Wars movie history, making contact with Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader, Yoda, Obi-Wan and other iconic heroes and villains of all nine Skywalker movie saga. But will he go back in time for the Day of Life holiday and learn the true meaning of the holiday spirit? “
The LEGO Star Wars Holiday Special begins streaming November 17, 2020 on Disney + Hotstar.
