Meanwhile, the former can already bet on their new PlayStation 5. However, some have problems with their new console.
On November 12, 2020, the PlayStation 5 launched in the US and other countries, and some are already playing on their next-generation console. In Germany we have to be patient for another week. There are at least some PS5 tests here.
But not everything goes smoothly: On several PS5 subreddits, owners complain about various issues with their new console. The following issues are mentioned in the collective thread on Reddit:
- The console does not start after the first boot
- There are problems with the console database, known as a “damaged database”.
- And occasionally there are audio issues and glitches
Are there already solutions to the problems? There are no official fixes to the problem yet, but the most common problem is the damaged console database.
“I am surprised to see how widespread some of these bricking / crashing problems are. Hopefully not too often, “one user asks.
Here some suspect that the software problems stem from the fact that many are trying to directly install their beloved PS4 games on the new console to take advantage of the new performance:
Take it easy for the first week. Maybe we shouldn’t try to copy the data from the PS4 right now or try a lot of PS4 games … I don’t know … it seems to need a new patch.

For others, updating the TV’s firmware helped.
PS5 owners get this tip: You shouldn’t currently use an external hard drive on the PS5 or use the console’s sleep mode. So most of the problems that are faced originate.
PS5 Some fans are starting to worry
These are the reactions of the users: Besides the people affected, there are now a number of gamers who are still waiting for their console and starting to worry. Because even then you might be one of those who have a faulty PS5. Here is how user Veneim writes:
Yes, this thread dampened my expectations … From worrying about my credit card [bei der Bestellung] from worrying whether or not I’ll have it on launch day to whether or not it will work when I have it.

Some even suggest that people should tell us about their positive experiences and give expectant buyers some hope, because that’s what they need most right now:
[…] The only consolation I have right now is that most of the influencers and gaming sites I follow seem to have little or no problems. At least not to the extent that they are described here.kuroinferuno on reddit.com
But some also say: folks, don’t worry, no console startup went smoothly and there have always been problems.
Technical problems: the number of people affected is unclear
So far, some users have reported issues and “Tech Issues and Megathread Help” on Reddit now has over 1000 comments, but not all of them have issues. Many people are also available to help and advise those affected.
At least there seems to be positive news besides the technical problems. Because it currently looks like there may be more PS5 consoles before Christmas, at least if you believe the Sony boss’s words.
