The state releases its stock of vaccines

The government has “made available” to pharmacies and hospitals its stock of flu vaccines, or 2.4 million doses reserved for nursing homes and priority patients, a union of pharmacists said Monday. Doped by Covid-19, the flu vaccination has been complete, to such an extent that the state is now replacing laboratories to deliver pharmacies.

A decree published on Sunday in the Official Gazette gave the green light for the distribution of vaccines “purchased by the pharmaceutical institute of the National Public Health Agency”. Public Health France will therefore be able to ship the “2.4 million additional doses” it stores and which will be “exclusively reserved for the recipients of the vaccine recommendations in force”, specifies the Union of Community Pharmacist Unions (Uspo).

Delivery this week

Priority will be given to residents and staff of nursing homes, the pharmacies concerned having to report their needs for a birth “from 30 November”. For the other priority patients, pharmacies will have to report the status of their stocks on a weekly basis, in anticipation of a distribution “in early December”.

The Uspo underlines that the vaccination campaign launched on 13 October exceeded that of last year in a month, with almost 10.7 million doses delivered on 17 November, of which over 91% sold to priority subjects – of which 3 , 1 million vaccinated directly in the pharmacy. According to the union, the latest deliveries of vaccines from laboratories are expected this week.
