WASHINGTON (Sputnik) – The unmanned space cargo ship Dragon will make its next flight to the International Space Station on December 5, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA, for its acronym in English) announced.
“On Saturday, December 5, SpaceX is expected to launch a new refueling mission for the Space Station. The Dragon spacecraft will move materials for more than 250 investigations into the ISS, as well as a new airlock module, commercially funded by (the company) Nanoracks.” reads in the NASA statement, posted on his Twitter account.
The take-off is scheduled for 16:39 GMT on December 5 from Cape Canaveral, Florida, where the Kennedy Space Center is located.
On Sunday 6 December, the Dragon spacecraft will dock with the Harmony module and remain on the ISS for a month, after which it will return to Earth with the results of the scientific experiments and the return cargo.
The new airlock module, called Bishop Airlock, will be used to transfer payloads between the inside and outside of the Station and will also serve as a platform for equipment testing and satellite deployment.
