Does the name Yubo mean anything to you? Probably not. But what if I told you that this is already a social network with 40 million users?

Well, this new platform could be the next big social network very soon. It recently managed to raise $ 47.5 million.

We know that Facebook is, and will continue to be, in the short and medium term, the largest and most popular social network in the world. However, every now and then there is a novelty in the social platforms segment, which makes Mark Zuckerberg's podium of services tremble. Some examples are Snapchat and, more recently, TikTok.

In recent days a new social network has started to stand out, but "no one" seems to have heard of it.

Yubo is the social network that already has 40 million users

His name is Yubo and his slogan is "Make New Friends". It is a new social network based in Paris and created by a team of 15 people, including engineers, designers, data specialists and marketers. So far everything looks similar to any other social purpose platform that has now emerged on the market. But there are some curious details for a new social network.

The service already has 40,000 users and the target audience is young people under 25. Users can perform various tasks, such as accessing rooms with live streaming, meeting people, and purchasing new features.

Another curiosity is that this network seems to work differently from the others, as it is not possible to follow other users or like the content.

Unlike other networks, Yubo does not intend to "clog" the ads. But users can pay to unlock items, for example. In this way, the social network expects to be able to generate 20 million dollars (~ 17 million euros) in turnover this year, which is double what it achieved in 2019.

The company recently obtained a loan of $ 47.5 million (~ 40 million euros). This contribution came from high-risk investors, such as Idinvest Partners, Iris Capital, Alven and Sweet Capital.

When the application opens, we have several user-created live streaming rooms. We can therefore combine the rooms in which topics of interest to us are treated, such as sports, politics, games, etc.

Most users are located in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, and France. And according to Sacha Lazimi, CEO of Yubo:

In 95% of the rooms there are only sparklers. The rooms have an average of 5-10 people.

As of December, we had 25 million registered users. Today we have more than 40 million users.

But the increase in people's engagement appears to be remarkable, as the number of hours spent in these streaming rooms increased 400% year-over-year.

A social network with strict rules

As the target population is young, it is important to have clear rules. Therefore, the company invests in real-time moderation processes and tries to impose strict rules. Upon registration, Yubo verifies the user's identity to place him in the correct age group.

We analyze all content both semantically and visually.

Lazimi said.

One of the company's goals is to expand its team. It currently employs 30 people in Paris, London and Jacksonville, but another office will be opened in New York. In addition, the platform will also develop an integration with YouTube to display the content of this service in one of the rooms.

The social network is available in 36 languages and for the Android and iOS operating systems. Learn more about the platform here.
