The Riverdale poster suggests that someone may return from the dead

Riverdale season 5 could bring someone back to life from the dead, judging by Roberto-Aguirre Sacasa’s latest tweet.

The Riverdale showrunner shared a brand new poster for the upcoming series along with the caption “Nothing is buried forever …” and some cryptic emojis, including an engagement ring.

The poster shows the spooky woods of Riverdale with a zombie-like hand piercing the fog, suggesting that resurrection is on the cards for Archie and the gang.

Whether this means Riverdale will officially venture into the supernatural remains to be seen, strengthening its connection with its sister show Chilling Adventures of Sabrina or bringing back to life a character who is presumed dead until now. Considering the high number of corpses of the teen show, there are plenty of corpses to choose from for either option.

One Riverdale resident we can definitely write off is Jughead (Cole Sprouse), whose “death” last season turned out to be a fake as part of a murder conspiracy unfolding in the city’s literary circles, because that’s how Riverdale it moves.

Production for the fourth series was forced to halt prematurely due to COVID-19, so the fifth season will begin with a trio of episodes designed to wrap things up in the latest series, including the prom and graduation.

Aguirre-Sacasa also confirmed that there will be a significant time jump when we meet Archie and the gang again in what would be the fifth season premiere.

“We talked and planned to do a time jump,” he told TVLine, “and of course, time jumps usually happen between seasons, because there’s a mockery at the end. So what we’re doing is picking up where we left off for the first three episodes, and then taking a time jump … after those three episodes. “

There has been a lot of speculation about the length of the time jump, but chances are we won’t see Archie, Jughead, Betty and Veronica go to college, joining them later.

Riverdale season five will arrive on Netflix on Thursday, January 21, 2021. Check out our lists of best series on Netflix and the best movies on Netflixor see what else is there with ours TV Guide.
