Since it debuted in October, Netflix series The Queen’s Gambit has been a huge success for the streamer, with viewers and critics alike impressed by the lavish and gripping chess drama.
The seven-episode series was particularly popular for its scenography and performances, with the role of Anya Taylor-Joy in the lead role being cast as the highlight and supporting performances by the likes of Harry Melling, Thomas Brodie- Sangster and Marielle Heller. praised.

Speaking to Town & Country Magazine, he said: “If I’ve learned anything from being in this industry, you never tell.”
He added: “I love the character and would definitely come back if asked”, although he also admitted that the series ends in “a nice place”.
Co-star Harry Melling also seems excited about the idea of a sequel, saying, “It would be cool, right, a second part of Queen’s Gambit? The place where we end up in the limited series is where we end up in the book. I don’t know if there can be another one, but stranger things have happened. “
However, comments made by executive producer William Horberg are less promising – while he acknowledged that the creative team enjoyed talking about what might happen next in the story, he doesn’t seem convinced another series should follow.
“The last scene sounds like a beautiful note to wrap up the show, so I’m not sure if we want to continue and answer that question,” he explained. “Maybe we can just let the audience imagine what comes next.”
Of course, it should also be noted that Netflix always pays close attention to view figures when it comes to revamping its shows, so given the huge success of The Queen’s Gambit the streamer may still be eager to revive it for another series.

As previously mentioned, there is no sequel to Walter Tevis’ original novel and therefore any future series should be a completely original story.

There’s also a chance we might learn even more about Beth’s troubled childhood, or that we might further explore one of the many impressive supporting characters.
