AMD has announced the latest graphics cards, which it introduces in the Radeon RX 6000 series. So far we are talking about 3 models: AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT, RX 6800 XT and RX 6800.
AMD Radeon RX 6000 graphics cards are built around AMD’s gaming architecture RDNA 2, a new foundation for future game consoles, PCs, laptops and mobile devices. The new solutions appear to offer up to 2x more performance and 54% more performance per watt, compared to the previous AMD RDNA architecture. In addition, the new series includes AMD Infinity Cache technology which delivers up to 2.4 times the bandwidth per watt compared to AMD RDNA’s GDDR6 architecture design.
The new graphics cards feature PCIe 4.0 technology and 16GB of GDDR6 memory. The Radeon RX 6000 series promises to work well with the most demanding AAA gaming titles with 4K resolution and the highest levels of detail.
Among the technologies integrated by the new AMD Radeon RX 6000 graphics cards:
- AMD Infinity Cache – State-of-the-art 128MB cache memory, which reduces latency and power consumption, suitable for 4K and 1440p resolution games with details set to maximum;
- AMD Smart Access Memory – feature that works in conjunction with AMD Ryzen 5000 series processors and motherboards with AMD B550 or X570 chipset. Gives AMD Ryzen processors priority access to video cards’ GDDR6 memory, accelerating processing speed;
- DirectX 12 Ultimate support: the latest version of the API;
- DirectX Raytracing (DXR): the new RDNA 2 architecture allocates a fixed Ray Accelerator function for each compute unit, for real-time rendering of lighting, with rich shadow detail and realism of reflections;
- Variable Rate Shading (VRS) – technology that dynamically reduces the shading speed in certain parts of the scene, which do not require full details, to increase the overall performance, without drastically affecting the image quality;
- AMD FidelityFX – Open source gamekit for game developers, available on the AMD GPUOpen platform. It offers developers a unique collection of light, shadow and reflection effects.
