Hala Zayed, Minister of Health and Population, held a meeting today, Thursday, via video conferencing technology, with Major General Khaled Shuaib, Governor of Matrouh, Major General Mohamed Al-Sharif, Governor of Alexandria, and a number of of ministry leaders and agents of the ministry of health in the two governorates, to follow the implementation of the ministry’s plan to tackle the spread of Coronavirus. The Ministry said Alexandria Governorate ranks first in terms of number of Coronavirus infections, and Matrouh Governorate ranks fourth, noting that 65% of Corona virus infections in Egypt are those that sit indoors. and poorly ventilated without applying preventive and precautionary measures.
He indicated that the minister directed to strengthen preventive measures at gathering places in bars, restaurants and places of various activities, noting that the governors have agreed to close the facility which has not complied with the application of these measures for a period of 3 days, with a sign indicating that the closure was due to the non-application of precautionary measures, in the context of caution. Concern for the health of citizens and the commitment to tackle the emerging coronavirus and reduce the spread of the infection.
He added that the minister directed ministry agents to ensure hospital readiness, the availability of all supplies, oxygen and respiratory devices, and the readiness of intensive care, and to follow the implementation of updated treatment protocols and infection control standards, and also directed to periodically undergo training for all medical teams to increase their efficiency.
He added that the minister also directed the supply of a CT machine to Matrouh General Hospital, as well as providing a device (pcr) to Matrouh Fever Hospital, in response to the governorate’s needs, noting that an additional number of CT machines had been contracted. in two phases in the hospitals of the Ministry of Health and Population.
He stressed that the minister stressed during the meeting to continue working on presidential public health initiatives within hospitals, units, health centers and mobile clinics and to deliver care to those suffering from chronic diseases for a period of 3 months in advance, free of charge, as part of the concern for public health of citizens and the reduction of health complications resulting from chronic diseases.
For his part, Major General Khaled Shuaib, Governor of Matrouh, thanked the Minister of Health for his immediate response in meeting the needs of the governorate hospitals and his willingness to communicate continuously to meet the needs and address the challenges that could obstruct the progress of the work, praising the efforts of the medical staff on the basis of the initiatives of the President of the Republic in the field of public health that contribute to improving the general health of citizens.
The Governor of Alexandria, Major General Mohamed Al-Sharif, stressed to exploit all capabilities and to emphasize the implementation of all precautionary and preventive measures and to follow up on the continuing awareness of the danger of not following these measures, and also stressed that the governorate will take all legal measures against offenders, with the aim of preventing the increase in the number of new infections with the new Corona virus and coping with its spread.
