Blockchain is a paradigm shift, a fundamental technology that will change every sector. Blockchain is relevant wherever there is a trust problem (when individuals, organizations or things need to cooperate) and when there is a transaction. Blockchain is particularly relevant to the financial sector and the supply chain sector, but the blockchain can also be used for the social good. In our latest book, Blockchain: transforming your business and our world, we discuss how the blockchain can help solve problems such as poverty, climate change, fraud, corruption, censorship, identity theft, etc.
What is the most extraordinary and unique project you had to work with?
Personally, I find the projects they look at using the blockchain to solve the most interesting real-world problems. Projects that aim to offer us a self-sufficient identity, such as Sovrin or uPort, have the opportunity to change the way we manage identity. This can also be used for developing countries, as more than 1.5 billion people still lack a government identity. Moreover, those projects that aim to help the unbanked 2 billion in our world, like Humaniq, are very important.
How can your Datafloq project affect the cryptography and technology sector?
Our goal is to help the community with relevant articles on blockchain, cryptography and other technologies including big data, artificial intelligence and the internet of things. Furthermore, we are about to launch a new project that could help in the huge problem of the false news we have.
Do you invest in cryptocurrency? If so, do you prefer known coins or new projects?
I have several cryptocurrencies. Regardless of the project I decide to participate in, I always look at what product is developing, who the team is, how long they have worked, what code is already present, already have an alpha or beta version, etc. For me, participating in a new project means that I need to understand very well that the project is able to achieve what it wants to achieve.
Your prediction: what future awaits the cryptographic industry and all cryptocurrency owners in 2019?
It is hoped that 2019 will see a more stable environment due to global regulations in place on how to treat ICOs (although I am aware that it takes some time to reach it). In 2019, we will also see other blockchain projects that come to fruition and provide real products and services. Slowly, the decentralized ecosystem will appear as the technology necessary to make it ready. 2019 will be a very interesting year!
