Despite subsequent delays due to the pandemic, it is confirmed that there will be a revolution in “007: No Time to Die”.
On October 2, it was announced that the fifth and final film debut with Daniel Craig as James Bond would run from November 19 to April 2, 2021.
The decision to completely stop the entire process that accompanies the launch of these great films, or the publication of contents in magazines that close the edition well in advance, has no longer arrived.
One of these is Harper’s Bazaar, which has published an interview that leaves no room for doubt in its title: “Woman of the Year: Lashana Lynch on making history as the first black woman 007”.
The 32-year-old British actress’s profile specifies that Nomi’s character is a “secret agent who inherits the 007 title while Bond himself is in exile.”
This is a historic moment for the saga: although producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson made it clear in January that the James Bond character will never be a woman, they made a difference with the position of “007”.
This confirms a rumor that appeared in April last year and was badly received in some sectors of social networks.
In the interview, Lashana Lynch argues that the aggressive comments were ultimately not personal.
“I am a black woman, it would have been the same debate if she had been another black woman, she would have had the same attacks, the same abuse. I just have to remember that the debate is ongoing and that I am part of something that will be very , very revolutionary, “he explained.
According to the official synopsis of “007: No Time to Die”, James Bond (Daniel Craig) has left the service early and is enjoying a quiet life in Jamaica. But their peace quickly ends when their old friend Felix Leiter, from the CIA (Jeffrey Wright), shows up with a plea for help.
A new mission involves the rescue of a kidnapped scientist and becomes much more insidious than expected, leading Bond to pursue a mysterious villain, Safin (Rami Malek), armed with a new and dangerous technology.
The cast also includes Ana De Armas, Christoph Waltz, Ralph Fiennes, Naomie Harris, Ben Wishaw and Rory Kinnear.
“007: No Time to Die” is Daniel Craig’s fifth film as a secret agent and announced farewell to the series, after “Casino Royale” (2006), “Quantum of Solace” (2008), “Skyfall” (2012) and “Specter” (2015).
The director is Cary Fukunaga (from the first season of “True Detective”), who co-wrote the screenplay with Scott Z. Burns and Phoebe Waller-Bridge (“Fleabag”, “Killing Eve”).
