Due to the low demand for polio vaccination and also multivaccination, Brusque health units with vaccination rooms will be open this Saturday, 7, from 8:00 to 17:00, without closing for lunch. So far, polio vaccination coverage has reached just 56.46% of the target set by the Ministry of Health.
All children from one to less than five years of age should be vaccinated with the oral polio vaccine (VOP), provided they have already received the three doses of the basic regimen inactivated polio vaccine (VIP). For vaccination it is necessary to have the vaccine booklet and the SUS card in hand.
The multivaccination campaign, on the other hand, aims to update the vaccination books of children and adolescents under 15 who have not been immunized or who have an incomplete booklet according to the National Vaccination Calendar. The measure seeks to improve vaccination coverage, which has fluctuated in recent years.
In addition, on this date UBS will have a special program that alludes to Blue November, an awareness campaign on male diseases, with a focus on the prevention and early detection of prostate cancer. There will also be actions aimed at women’s health and rapid tests for HIV, syphilis and hepatitis. Each unit will have its own schedule.
“This Saturday, our units will be open and we ask parents to bring their children to drink the droplet. It is important to remember that polio has no cure. It is also highly contagious, so the vaccine is our only form of prevention, ”said Director General of the Department of Health, Camila Pereira.
