The Media Center for the Presidency of the Council of Ministers denied that news that had circulated, and also that the Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation was contacted, which denied the news and confirmed that it is not valid to import shipments of meat infected with any diseases or viruses.
The Media Center for the Presidency of the Council of Ministers stressed that all shipments of imported meat circulating in the markets are safe, secure and free from epidemic viruses and that they are all subject to examination and control by the Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of Health and the General Authority for the Control of Exports and Imports.
The Food Safety Authority supervises such shipments and samples are taken and analyzed from them, and the shipment is completely refused in case a positive sample is detected, and this is within the state’s concern for the health of citizens. and to ensure their access to healthy foods.
Since meat imported from abroad is subject to supervision and control by veterinarians at the General Authority for Veterinary Services in the country of origin, and then it is slaughtered in a slaughterhouse approved by the authority, as the packaging, freezing and packaging is carried out under veterinary supervision.
Additionally, when the shipment arrives in Egyptian ports, a sample is taken through the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Health and Population, as well as the General Organization for Export and Import Control, and then analyzed to ensure that it is free from epidemic diseases.
