To understand the different phases of vaccination, the High Authority for Health (HAS) recalled risky situations in the face of the virus. The HAS also added that “other diseases or forms of disability can be integrated as knowledge is acquired”.

The institution presented its strategy on Monday available in “five progressive stages”. The first three steps will consist of target the most vulnerable people, likely to develop a severe form of the disease. The same applies to professions “in contact with patients infected with Sars-CoV-2”.

The five stages of vaccination

The first stage will have to vaccinate the elderly in nursing homes or residents of a collective institution. It will also involve administering doses for “health professionals, socio-medical, medical transport”, nursing homes and long-term care units (USLD) over 65 and or with one or more comorbidities.

The third step, the last phase of priority vaccination, should take care of French people under 65 who suffer from one or more comorbidities, and of medical-social and medical transport professionals who are not affected by previous phases of vaccination. During this process, even professionals in essential areas such as security or education will receive a dose of anti-Covid.

The fourth step It will intervene to vaccinate all the other most exposed professionals and the French considered vulnerable and precarious. Finally, the last step of the vaccination campaign will target the entire population over the age of 18 without comorbidities.

During a press briefing with Belgian Prime Minister Alexander De Croo, Emmanuel Macron made it clear that this last phase of vaccination, “wider and more general”, should intervene “between April and June”.
