13. November 2020 – Outlook users complain that deleted emails reappear in their inbox and are marked as unread. Microsoft has confirmed this problem.
Currently, complaints from Outlook users about deleted emails appearing as unread messages in their inbox are on the rise, as Günter Born reports on his Windows blog. Apparently the problem is particularly noticeable when integrating external accounts.
Microsoft confirmed the problem in a support article this week and stated that the Outlook team is currently investigating the problem and will notify them immediately as soon as a solution is available.
Meanwhile, there is a workaround on the Outlook.com support pages, which is unlikely to be of practical use in everyday life, as the effort is quite high. If the emails come from a built-in external account, Microsoft recommends deleting the emails directly from the external service, such as Gmail. (rd)
