The crown depicts the queen in duty and her flamboyant younger sister, Princess Margaret, as two sides of a coin; and for the fifth season, the role of Margaret will be played by acclaimed actress Lesley Manville.
The Oscar-nominated Phantom Thread star (who was reportedly the producers’ first choice for the role) will follow Helena Bonham Carter and Vanessa Kirby, who have both played Princess Margaret in previous seasons.

Also confirmed for the fifth season is Elizabeth Debicki as Princess Diana, who will later reprise the role for the sixth season when The Crown ends. The actress, best known for The Night Manager and Tenet, is following in the footsteps of Emma Corrin, who gave rise to the role in the fourth season.

When will filming begin on the fifth season of The Crown?
Speaking in October 2020, series leader Imelda Staunton told This Morning that filming for The Crown’s fifth season would begin in July 2021.
Earlier this year, Staunton told Entertainment Weekly that his search for the role is “ongoing,” but he expects filming for season five to be delayed by the coronavirus pandemic and the fact that so many television productions have been made. paused.
