The company with a roll-up smartphone
A certain company has revealed the concept of a smartphone with a rollable screen, which means it can be rolled up. It is something other than foldable phones and can be superior to these phones. For now, that company’s sliding smartphone cannot be purchased.
In terms of flexible display technology, there are rollable displays (which can be rolled up). In fact, South Korean company LG sold its TV – which can work – starting this year, so such screens can exist and be created.
But what if you have integrated a sliding screen into a smartphone? This is what Oppo from China is working on. The Chinese company has indeed introduced a concept device called Oppo X 2021.
It has a sliding screen that allows it to transform into a tablet. The phone from Chinese manufacturer Oppo has a 6.7-inch display which, when extended, can reach 7.4 inches, placing it in the mini-tablet category.
It is very interesting, but, unfortunately, this device is only at the concept stage at the moment. And the Chinese company Oppo won’t sell the phone, at least not at the moment.
Perhaps the Chinese company is trying to assess public opinion to decide whether to launch such a phone, and for now we will have to imagine what such a smartphone would look like.
Oppo claims that this phone has mechanisms designed to reduce demand on the screen. This is in contrast to foldable phones where most requests happen on the hinge.
Will these devices be superior to foldable smartphones? This possibility exists. But what do you think of this? Will roll-screen smartphones be superior to foldable ones?
