The start of next season looks uncertain. There are “new problems”, writes the ATP.
The crown crisis is already casting its shadow over the 2021 tennis season. Slovak pro Luckas Lacko (ATP 193) shared a message from the ATP on Twitter on Wednesday that questions Australia’s first Grand Slam start. of the year.
Only delays?
“After discussions with Tennis Australia over the past 24 hours, we have learned that new issues have arisen regarding arrival dates,” the ATP wrote in a message to the players.
Lacko added that there were new rumors that “players will not be allowed to enter Australia in December”.
Lockdown in South Australia
The organizers’ plan before the Australian Open (January 18-31) has thus far been to quarantine players for 14 days before they can train and take part in the preparatory tournaments.
A delay in entry could also have consequences for the “Happy Slam”. Another blockade was decided on Wednesday in South Australia, a state close to Melbourne.
