For decades he has made people laugh in German-speaking countries, now he’s ripping his sayings into heaven: German comedian and actor Karl Dall died at the age of 79, German news agency DPA said, citing the statements from his family.
On 11 November, the comedian was treated in his apartment in the northern German city of Lüneburg on suspicion of a stroke with brain hemorrhage and then received medical treatment. An accident from which he never recovered.
He fell asleep peacefully
“Despite the use of all intensive technological and medical measures, today he fell asleep peacefully without having regained consciousness in advance. He leaves his wife, daughter and grandson », write his relatives. “He was not only a popular comedian and entertainer, but above all an exceptionally lovable and likeable person.”
Dall had taken on the role of old rock star Richie Sky on ARD’s daily series “Rote Rosen” since early November. Filming was halted after her stroke.
Dumbbard and re joke
He was one of the largest, but also most controversial comedians in Germany: after completing his apprenticeship as a typographer, Dall began his career with the humorous-anarchist group Insterburg & Co. He was immediately drawn to television, where he assisted Rudi Carrells. (934-2006) “Churning Out” and in Kurt Felix (1941-2012) “Do you understand the fun?” He played jokes on the phone.
He later moderated TV talk shows as the king of jokes, hit the charts with silly hits like “This record is a hit” and “Millions of women love me” and excelled as an actor in mostly minor roles in various comedies. The entertainer has not had his own television program for a long time, such as the formats “Dall-As” (1985-1991 on RTL) and “Jux und Dallerei” (1992-1994 on Sat.1).
He wanted a great return
“I no longer believe in a new television career, but I would like to prove again what I am capable of,” he said just before his 76th birthday. “It’s just that, aside from Dieter Hallervorden, who enviably walked out of the stupid corner, hardly any of us old comedians have that chance.”
He himself has received offers for “Celebrity Big Brother” and the jungle TV camp – “in the hope that I’ll drop my pants,” Dall said a few years ago. “But even if I was offered crazy money, I’d rather clean the bathrooms. Finally, my wife Barbara threatened to leave me if I ever took part in something like this. ”The couple married in 1971 and had daughter Janina (46), who made a career as a stuntman.
2014 District Court of Zurich
In Switzerland, Dall caused a sensation in 2014 when he had to answer before the district court in Zurich. Solothurn journalist Anja-Maria Stampfli (49) accused him of rape and attempted coercion. Dall had always denied the allegations. He was the victim of a stalker and his psychological problems, he said. Due to the lack of evidence, the authorities acquitted the Germans.
With Karl Dall, the German comedy scene has lost one of its biggest figureheads. “I am proud of how fortunate I have been to succeed in this industry,” said the comedian, who was awarded the German Comedy Prize for his life’s work. “I am less proud of my unsatisfactory graduation marks – I am not a role model in that. But you can’t have it all. “And even if he stopped touring after 50 years, he didn’t want to retire, he wrote on his homepage.” Goodbye? No, no end in sight! “(man / imh / sda)
