Yesterday, Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao once again expressed his opinion on the Ripple XRP digital resource.
He emphasized the fact that he does not believe it is a security. He made his comments via Twitter and as expected triggered a lot of excitement among the Ripple community.
It all started when the freelance journalist Joseph Young sent a tweet that was critical of Coinbase because of its negative position towards the XRP:
Coinbase has listed everything in crypto in addition to XRP. He says he can add any asset beyond a certain level like the stock market, but still without XRP. Wild.
On a serious note, it is likely that the federal judicial case pending against Ripple is holding them for now.

The journalist's opinion comes at a really strange moment, considering the fact that Coinbase has officially announced what all the fans of Ripple have been waiting for a long time.

The official announcement was made on the Coinbase blog on December 7th.
Ripple fans expected the exchange to add support for XRP or at least officially announce that they have been considering it for some time, so the good news comes just in time for a better Christmas.
XRP is not a security
In any case, here's what Zhao told the journalist:
"The judicial process could take years, but if the XRP is considered as a security, it will severely damage many US users and, to a certain extent, other users all over the world, certainly not a security, but this it's just a person's opinion. "
If you remember, there's a lot of debate about XRP status and it's somehow logical for the SEC to look for something else and see what the court has to say on the subject, since there's a lawsuit in progress.
US-based cryptographic exchanges like Coinbase really want to avoid SEC problems and that's probably why they're not jumping to add XRP so quickly.
