“This doesn’t belong to a TV show like that” – “The Voice” nominees reject Sido-Song
The blind auditions at “The Voice of Germany” are already over. Now the battles have begun. But they don’t always go as coaches would like. Because sometimes the candidates’ ideas do not match those of the jurors. Conflicts are inevitable.
On Sunday evening, Samu Haber and fellow coach Rea Garvey sent their two rappers Alex Hartung and Antonio Esposito into battle. Needless to say, the two shouldn’t suddenly be singing a ballad. Although this may have given them fewer conflicts of conscience than what the coaches have asked them to do. Antonio and Alex were supposed to rap Sido’s “Mein Block” – at least that was Samus and Rea’s wishful thinking. Only they had done their calculations without the two candidates.
Alex Hartung disagrees with Sido’s song
They didn’t want to hear the former coach’s song “The Voice”. “I am very well educated and afterwards I would have had to go to the confessional so often that I would probably never go out again.”, Alex announced his concern. And Antonio, who actually thinks Sido’s song is good, clarified:
Rocker coaches Rea and Samu didn’t expect this. “We thought, as a rapper, that’s part of the language you use to provoke”Rea Garvey wondered. But what should the alternative be?

The Voice candidates had a special idea. They just wanted to rephrase the text “My Block”. To do this, they obtained Sido’s permission. The new version – definitely suitable for children, but at least as catchy as the original – arrived on stage and wowed the other coaches too.
For Alex Hartung, who appeared as one of the All-Star nominees in the anniversary season for the second time on “The Voice,” the show was over. Samu and Rea have decided to take Antonio to live shows.
