In 1976 Doris De Agostini won her first ski world cup competition, two years later the Ticino woman won the bronze medal in downhill at the World Ski Championships in Garmisch-Partenkirchen and in the 1980/81 and 1981/82 seasons she won the second place in the Downhill World Cup. A year later, after the 1982/83 season, after a total of eight World Cup victories, she resigned from top-level sport at the age of 25.
