The first substitution took place after just eleven minutes in the Champions League match in Bruges. But none of the players had to leave the pitch except the referee.
During the Bundesliga Champions League match, Borussia Dortmund at Club Bruges (here in the live ticker) referee Damir Skomina was substituted early. After just eleven minutes, the experienced Slovenian referee had to leave the pitch on Wednesday, with fourth official Dragoslav Peric taking over.
The reason for the replacement was an injury, which Skomina apparently suffered without any outside influence. Sky commentator Wolff Fuss said the referee injured his knee.
Skomina then continued the match as a fourth official.
