Police are on the hunt for an arsonist who ignited a fire on a suburban street causing a car to explode outside nearby houses in the middle of the night.
CCTV footage showed a man setting fire to an accelerator trail in Ryalls Lane, Strathfieldsaye, Victoria region at 3am on October 17.
The five-meter-long trail of flames led to a stolen Toyota RAV4 SUV.

When the flames reached the vehicle, it was engulfed before exploding.
The burning vehicle was a few meters from neighboring houses on a quiet street.
The unknown offender was then seen fleeing the fire to a light-colored vehicle, believed to be a Toyota CH-R, and walking away from the scene.
