Teams no longer works in Internet Explorer. What to do now?

There was a time when Internet Explorer was unrivaled in web browsing. After the fall of Netscape, Microsoft’s browser took over the throne, a throne it held with an iron fist until the arrival of Google Chrome. Today Internet Explorer is a virtually discontinued product and its residual presence is justified only by companies and administrations that still need it. However, Microsoft is accelerating Internet Explorer’s eventual demise and today is putting another nail in its coffin: it will no longer be compatible with Microsoft Teams, as we reported weeks ago.

Tip: Switch to Edge

If you are a home user still using Internet Explorer in late 2020, we have bad news for you. Dude, you are totally out of date and the browser you use has its days numbered. Not just for teams, but for navigation in general. There is no reason to use it beyond the laziness of change. Most modern websites don’t work or work poorly in Internet Explorer, cause all sorts of compatibility problems, and don’t take advantage of the most advanced browser features.

Indeed, You may have already noticed how Microsoft suggests you switch to the new Microsoft Edge. As we reported some time ago, Internet Explorer was starting to redirect its users to Edge when they were trying to open an incompatible site. you can download the browser following this link in case it is not already pre-installed after a Windows update. It is compatible with Windows 7, 8, 8.1 and 10.

Migrating to Edge will be therapeutic for you and a lot less harsh than you fear. We recommend taking a look if you’re planning on making the leap due to this limitation to Teams.

What should companies using Teams do in Internet Explorer?

You have to migrate to a supported browser to use Teams. If you decide for the new Edge, Microsoft offers free support to companies that have contracted the Microsoft 365 package. You just have to tell the system administrator to enter this link, from which you will get all the information you need.

It is recommended that all companies still using Internet Explorer migrate to Microsoft Edge as soon as possible. This will offer more modern features, better compatibility, and overall better performance. As of August 2021, the rest of the applications belonging to Office 365 / Microsoft 365 will no longer be compatible with Internet Explorer.
