Over time. It’s been 5 months since Microsoft released the version of Teams for family and friends (originally known as “Teams for Life”) on iOS and Android devices. It is not a different application, but an extra option within the applications we already know. Now, Microsoft Teams for personal use is now available on the web and in the desktop app.
What does Teams offer for personal use?
As you all know, Microsoft Teams has emerged as the business organization and communication tool par excellence. Its success during the pandemic is overwhelming and Microsoft doesn’t waste a minute when it comes to improving its performance, capabilities, and even its design day in and day out.
However, Microsoft wants Teams not only to accompany us during our business hours, but to accompany us 24 hours a day. That’s why they launched a file specific version focused on personal use, allowing us to keep in touch with our family and friends. We are facing a replacement for applications such as WhatsApp and Telegram. These are the Features at first you will have this version of Teams:
- Start a personal chat or create a group chat with 250 people.
- Synchronize existing chats between your phone and computer and continuous conversations between different devices.
- Talk for free with family and friends every day via audio and video calls.
- Share the invitations Video meetings with everyone, even if they don’t have Teams installed on their PC, and bring together 49 friends and loved ones with gallery view or group mode.
- Upload and share photos and videos from your PC in any group or individual chat.
How to start using it
- If you’re new to Teams, install the desktop app and sign up with a Microsoft account.
- If you already have the app because you use it at work, click on your profile picture in the top right corner and select the option “Add a personal account”. After logging in, Teams will open a new window with personal and group chats, allowing you to easily switch between the personal and professional versions of Teams. If you still don’t see this option, don’t worry, it rolls out gradually and could take hours or a few days.
