28 October 2020 – A video shows a rollable OLED display for smartphones currently being developed by TCL. The company had already presented a similar pull-out display earlier this year.

A YouTube video shows a smartphone display that can be rolled up (via “Mspoweruser”). The OLED display is manufactured by TCL. The Chinese technology group had already unveiled a smartphone with a flip-out screen in February of this year, but it was still unclear exactly how the technology was supposed to work (reports “Swiss IT Magazine”).

In the video that has now appeared, you can see a smartphone that can be juxtaposed in length, with the display shrinking from 6.7 inches to 4.5 inches, but still running. Behind is an OLED display that can be rolled up on two rollers at either end. According to TCL, the first devices with the new display will be launched on the market this year. However, it is not yet known when exactly the smartphones will appear, nor their price. (luc)
