Switch and Switch Lite sold a whopping 735,926 times in the US in October 2020, surpassing October 2019 sales by 136%, Nintendo confirmed, citing data provided by the NPD. In fact, these sales are the second highest in October of any video game console in history, only surpassed by the 807,000 Wii units sold in October 2008.

October also continued the Nintendo Switch record as the best-selling video game console for 23 consecutive months in the United States, the highest number since the NPD began collecting sales data. To date, the Nintendo Switch has sold more than 22.5 million copies in the US and more than 63 million copies worldwide.

“Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch Lite continue to offer unique gaming experiences on TV or on the go, so Christmas shoppers can choose a video game console that fits their lifestyle,” said Nintendo of America President Doug Bowser. “Seeing encouraging sales growth like this on the Nintendo Switch on October 4th shows us that the system has many more years and great games ahead of it.”
