Swissquote Bank SA, based in Switzerland, has appointed Chris Thomas as the new Head of Digital Assets.

Swissquote, a member of the Swiss Bankers Association, is a banking group specializing in the provision of financial services and online trading. It offers services specifically designed for asset managers and corporate clients. The bank also offers an electronic wealth management tool, ePrivate Banking, as well as traditional banking services, including mortgages, savings accounts, and more specialized transactions, such as currency trading (eForex).

In July 2017, Swissquote allowed private clients to invest in cryptocurrencies. It will now open the segment to institutional clients, who will have the opportunity to enter professional crypto-trading and custody, to advance their digital asset business.

With 20 years of professional experience in the financial sector, Thomas previously worked in sales and trading for European banks in London and Geneva, such as UBS, Société Générale and BNP Parisbas. Thomas was also head of European innovation at Fidelity Investments. He also founded a number of companies including Infinite Alpha, an institutional cryptocurrency custodian, TawiPay.com (now Monito), a comparison website for international money transfer services, and BlackHouse Private Equity.

As Head of Digital Assets at Swissquote, Thomas will focus on expanding the range of institutional products and offering services to asset managers, hedge funds, private banks and family offices.
