Stolen tokens on Ethereum transferred to Binance and other top exchanges

The entire cryptocurrency market continues to be traumatized by hacks while another exchange is the victim of a security breach. The cryptocurrency exchange in question here is known as Cryptopia, a leading exchange based in New Zealand. On January 16, 2019, the exchange platform announced that its staff noticed a security breach that ultimately caused a loss of funds. The exchange system was compromised on January 14, 2018.

In their official statement, the team stated that the trading platform will continue to remain in maintenance mode until further notification by the New Zealand regulatory authorities. New Zealand police and the High Tech Crime Unit are currently investigating the violation, and the police said that "a significant value of cryptocurrency could be involved" in the hack.

So far, the team has not confirmed the total amount of cryptocurrencies that were stolen during the hacks or the details of the stolen tokens revealed to the public. However, a local news portal, Radionz said that the amount of stolen funds is about $ 3.6 million and that it was transferred to an unknown portfolio.

In addition to this, large transfers in Ethereum [ETH], the third largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization and Centrality [CENNZ] from the exchange to the unknown portfolio is currently suspected of belonging to the hacker. Now, a Twitter user who uses the username, ShaftedTangu said on the social media platform that the stolen funds are now transferred to various exchanges of cryptocurrencies including Binance, a world-leading cryptocurrency exchange platform.

This could mean that hackers exchanged the ERC20 token with other ERC20 tokens.
