For a video of the malaria campaign, football legend David Beckham allowed himself to digitally age by over two decades.

This is David Beckham (45) speaking from the future.

Malaria must die

  • On Thursday, the creators of the “Malaria Must Die” campaign released a video with David Beckham (45).

  • With special effects, the former professional footballer has aged 25 years.

  • The Brit has been battling the deadly disease of malaria for over ten years.

David Beckham (45) shared a video on Instagram Thursday (see above) in which he can be seen as a 70-year-old. The football legend has been digitally tricked into being 25 years older than him: he is completely gray, has age spots and deep wrinkles.

Behind this is Malaria No More UK’s ‘Malaria Must Die’ campaign. The Brit has been working for more than ten years with the organization that is committed to fighting malaria, an infectious disease transmitted by mosquitoes that is mainly noticeable with a high fever and that could actually be treated and even avoided with the right drugs. Beckham also sits on the NGO’s board of directors with tennis player Andy Murray (33).

In the latest Malaria No More UK project, Becks can now be seen as the Beckham of the future and refers to a time when the deadly tropical disease has been eradicated.

“As a father, my heart breaks”

“Today our world has changed. We have defeated the most ancient and deadly enemy of humanity ”, begins his speech the former professional footballer. He continues: “A disease that has killed billions of people, more than any other in history. The world has now become safer for all of us. “

There’s finally a leap back into the present, and 45-year-old Beckham warns: “At the moment the fight is tougher than ever. And as a father, it breaks my heart that a child dies of malaria every two minutes. A future free from this disease is possible in our life “.

He appeals: “We must unite and tell the governments that we will not stop until the work is done. Join me and proclaim that malaria must die for millions of people to live. “

The special effects come from a high-level studio

The Beckham of the future was implemented by special effects studio Digital Domain, formerly responsible for visual effects in films such as “Titanic”, “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button” and “Avengers: Infinity War”.

Their prophecy of Elder Beckham seems at least far more promising than the one that the football magazine “FourFourTwo” published in 1998. This is how the father of four in 2020 was envisioned:

70-year-old Beckham appears to be well received by fans. A Twitter user jokes: “I know it’s an important campaign, but I’m distracted by the thought that David Beckham is still 70 years old.”
