Cape Canaveral.Six months after its first flight, the “Crew Dragon” spacecraft from SpaceX took off for the first time for a regular mission into space. On Sunday evening (local time), the capsule took off with four astronauts on board at Cape Canaveral, live recordings from the US space agency NASA showed.
The “Crew Dragon” took off from the tip of a “Falcon 9” rocket, whose first stage returned to Earth as expected after a few minutes and landed on a floating platform – a huge success for SpaceX. The capsule is expected to dock with the International Space Station on Monday evening (local time).
NASA astronauts Michael Hopkins, Victor Glover and Shannon Walker, as well as Japan’s Soichi Noguchi, will remain on the ISS for six months. Astronaut Kate Rubins and the Russians Sergej Ryschikow and Sergej Kud-Swertschkow are already present.
