Mexican actress Kate del Castillo has once again accused American actor Sean Penn of using her to meet and interview drug trafficker Joaquín ‘El Chapo’ Guzmán, and of putting her at risk of death.

Penn and Del Castillo had a short-lived relationship, which led to both of them visiting the boss at one of his hideouts in the mountains of Mexico.

The meeting was revealed by Penn in an interview published by Rolling Stone magazine in 2015 and generated intense controversy. Indeed, that clandestine meeting was crucial for authorities to catch the drug trafficker, sentenced to life in prison in the United States.

For the actress, the Oscar-winning actor’s actions endangered her and her family. He also claimed that this episode completely changed his life, as it left him with severe financial problems and an anxiety crisis.

Del Castillo, who played the on-screen character of a drug trafficker known as “The Queen of the South,” said she felt “stupid and naive” because of what she experienced. “If I didn’t have a US passport, I would be in prison,” he concluded.

On several occasions, Del Castillo has expressed his willingness to make a film about the life of Chapo Guzmán after the drug dealer showed interest in the actress who produces the film about his criminal career.
