“Shameful” – Klopp receives harsh criticism for a heated interview

After a 1-1 draw at Brighton on Saturday, Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp had a lively exchange with a journalist. Now a television expert addresses the German technician with critical words.

“Sorry Jürgen, it doesn’t work that way,” writes former England international Chris Sutton in his column in the Daily Mail. “You can’t pocket money, pay your players a good salary, have a great squad full of talent, take part in big competitions like the Champions League and then decide when you want to play.”

Sutton, who works as a television expert for Premier League rights holder BT Sport, probably felt personally attacked when Klopp spoke in an interview with BT Sport on Saturday after Liverpool’s draw in Brighton. Incidentally, Klopp was not happy that the broadcaster and the League had decided that the “Reds” had to step back on the pitch Saturday afternoon after Wednesday’s Champions League game.

The coach even blamed the television station for James Milner’s injury. This was to be replaced by the Brighton with muscle problems. When reporter Des Kelly asked about Milner’s injury, Klopp sarcastically replied: “Yes, thigh, congratulations!” This is not addressed personally to the journalist, but: “You work for them” (Editor’s note: BT Sport).

What shocks Klopp so much is the fact that the “Reds” injury list is getting longer and longer. Milner is already the eighth potential regular player likely to miss the next game. At least Klopp can announce before the Champions League match against Ajax (Tuesday at 9 pm live on “Blue Sport”) that one or the other injured is making progress.
