This is required to set up the Echo Dot

Everything you need to set up the small Echo speaker is included. In order for consumers to use the device, the Echo Dot must be connected to the mains. A stable WiFi connection is also required, as well as the latest version of the Alexa app (Android | iOS), which must be installed on the smartphone or tablet.

After downloading the app in the respective store, you need to set up an Amazon account or log in with an existing account.

Configure Echo Dot – here’s how

Once you’ve completed all of the above steps and installed the Alexa app, start setting up the Echo Dot for Smart Home:

  1. Connect the Echo Dot to the mains.
  2. There is an LED on the top of the Echo Dot, this should glow blue first and then orange after connecting. Also, the Alexa voice assistant signals and greets the user.
  3. Then open the Alexa app installed on your smartphone or tablet.
  4. Then select “Devices”, tap the “+” symbol and then select “Add devices”.
  5. Now a list opens in which to select the “Amazon Echo” item.
  6. In the next window you can see an overview with different Echo devices: Select “Echo” or “Echo Dot” here.

This completes the Echo Dot setup and the Alexa voice assistant can be put into operation and controlled with voice commands. You can also use Alexa Skills and control Alexa compatible devices.
