Sean Connery’s widow reveals her husband’s last wish before he died

The popular Scottish actor died on October 31 at the age of 90 at his home in the Bahamas.

Painter Michaeline Rokbrune, widow of actor Sean Connery, assured that her husband’s last wish before his death was that they scatter his ashes in the Bahamas and his native Scotland, as revealed last Sunday to The Scottish Mail, according to as reported by the local media.

“We bring Sean back to Scotland, it was his last wish,” explained Rokbrune. “He wanted his ashes scattered in the Bahamas and also in his homeland,” specifying that his family would like to comply with his last will as soon as coronavirus restrictions allow.

“A Global Scotsman”

The woman, who has been married to Connery for 45 years, explained that they want to organize a memorial mass in his honor in Scotland and indicated that they will keep her ashes until she can travel.

Jackie Stewart, a racing driver and a close friend of Connery’s, said that “there was no one more Scottish than Sean”, which, he stressed, has never changed. “Scotland was in his heart, at home. He was primarily a Scotsman, but a global Scotsman, “he added.

After battling the last few years of his life against dementia, Connery died on October 31 at the age of 90 while sleeping at his home on Lyford Cay (New Providence, Bahamas).

The legacy of “James Bond”

Winner of numerous accolades, including an Oscar, two Bafta Awards and three Golden Globes, Connery rose to worldwide fame in the 1960s as the first James Bond in the popular 007 film series.

During his ten-year artistic career, he worked with illustrious directors such as Alfred Hitchcock in ‘Marnie the Thief’ (1964) and starred in major commercial hits such as ‘The Name of the Rose’ (1986), ‘The Untouchables’ (1987), ‘Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade’ (1989), ‘The Russian House’ (1990), ‘The Hunt for Red October’ (1990 ) or “The Rock” (1996).

The actor was a fervent supporter of Scottish independence and had the phrase “Scotland Forever” tattooed on his arm. Queen Elizabeth II even bestowed the title of knighthood on Connery in 2000, which was much loved in Scotland and throughout the UK.
