The study will now go deeper to understand the possibility of spreading the virus

Japanese scientists have discovered a new virus, quite similar to Sars-Cov-2, in the feces of bats found in the caves of Japan. Despite the similarity, clinical tests have not confirmed the possibility of transmission to humans.

According to information on the Sputnik website, the study by researchers from the University of Tokyo showed that the new virus
, identified as RC-o319, is over 81% similar to the new coronavirus, responsible for the Covid-19 pandemic, and was taken from the biomaterial of bats.

Now, the scientists intend to deepen their studies on this new strain of coronavirus
and the possibility that it is already present in other regions of the planet is not excluded, since the studied species inhabits regions of Asia, Europe and Africa

It is worth mentioning that this is not the first time a virus similar to SARS-CoV-2
it is found in nature. Previously, researchers identified a strain that more than 95% resembles the new coronavirus.
