Samsung GALAXY S20 FE – best premium smartphone in terms of price / specs: Gadget.ro – Hi-Tech Lifestyle

I tested the Samsung GALAXY S20 FE 5G and grouped the impressions formed in the review. FE comes from Fan Edition, and the South Korean giant took notes in terms of customer wishes. The feedback received has been integrated into the S20 FE 4G / 5G.

I am sure that the new Samsung smartphone has also been in great demand in our country (since Black Friday 2020 about 2300 – 2400 lei have been brought in the 4G edition and about 2700 – 2800 lei in the version with 5G connectivity). You can also find it in the offers of telecommunications operators, where it has certainly become a star on the side of porting or contractual extension.

There are some elements I recommend on the GALAXY S20 FE and I will mainly refer to the 5G model, the one we also tested on Gadget.ro.

1. Hardware de top;

Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 or Exynos 990 with 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of UFS 3.1 memory. Run any application or game under optimal conditions. I tested it in PUBG where it got the details on UHD and Extreme. It worked without lag, without overheating excessively in prolonged game sessions.

You feel it readily when you take orders, the interface promptly serves any action you take. I didn’t notice any difference to the GALAXY Note20 Ultra, my everyday phone that has double the amount of RAM and storage (12GB of RAM with 256GB of storage).

2. Uncompromising connectivity;

It has support for combo slots (dual-sim or single sim + microSD slot), Wi-Fi 6 / axis (fastest Wi-Fi at the moment), 5G in NSA / SA variants, 4G with speeds up to 1800 Mbps in download and 200 Mbps upload (both variants reach these speeds in 4G by spectrum aggregation, needless to say that the model with Exynos does not have 5G compared to the one with Snapdragon 865). It has stereo speakers, state-of-the-art USB Type-C, localization via a suite of services, in-screen fingerprint reader, NFC, etc.

3. Design that recommends its use even without a protective cover;

It has a plastic back, but it doesn’t look like a budget phone. The internal structure of the smartphone was made of aluminum, and this is evident on its sides. The integration of the control buttons gives the idea of resistance over time. The dual OIS main camera is a little outlined, but you can take it to a flat surface without worrying about it getting scratched. The plastic back is matte and does not collect fingerprints, eliminates glass-related concerns and allows for the incorporation of wireless charging, etc.

I prefer a phone with a straight screen to a curved one. It doesn’t impress visually, but in the event of an accidental loss, you have fewer concerns about the structural integrity of the display.

4. Software with a multitude of customization options;

GALAXY S20 FE runs Android 10 with One UI 2.5, one of the most successful graphical interfaces in the Android universe at the moment. It is an interface optimized for working on high aspect (20: 9) screens on the S20 FE, a lot of content is close to the fingers of one hand. The interface is airy as an organization, but full of options. Always discover something new.

There are also a lot of options in terms of themes, wallpapers, ODA, etc. GALAXY Store comes with a number of applications, which you can choose if you install them. It’s a real ecosystem that opens up if you also have a Samsung smart TV, watch or fitness bracelet, etc.

5. Great camera;

No concessions were made for photos and cameras. They went for solutions that Samsung has been using for a long time and optimized them to the max. They brought a large sensor, a 3x optical zoom tele (both with optical image stabilization) and an ultrawide camera.

Incorporating a gallery of over 30 images taken in different usage scenarios, it handles well to very well whether it is daytime bokeh, portrait mode, at night or in low light situations.

The whole package above is complemented by the price, a phone with a price brought below 3000 lei at the moment. GALAXY S20 FE in its niche seems to me to be the best device, it offers good battery life, capable hardware, optimized software and does not break the wallet in the buying process. You also have a phone with software support for at least 3 years at the firmware level and 2 years as a new version of Android.
