Manifestations of stress can be similar to the true symptoms of the disease. Clinical psychologist Irina Khvingiya told the Russians about it, reports Sputnik radio.

According to her, stress and negative emotions can manifest as a cold (sweating, dry skin) or diabetes (high blood sugar), conjunctivitis, or an allergic reaction. The psychologist added that with stress, the temperature can rise. This is called thermoneurosis, but in this case the temperature usually does not exceed 37.5 degrees – if it reaches 38 degrees, this can indicate inflammatory processes.

Khvingiya also talked about how to distinguish manifestations of stress rather than disease. He noted that the peculiarity of thermoneurosis is that it does not respond to antipyretics. Also, signs of stress tend to show up at the same time. “If, in addition to the symptoms, there is tiredness in the morning, rapid fatigue, increased irritability, most likely we are talking about stress”, explained the specialist. However, if a person has signs, for example, of diabetes mellitus, it is worthwhile to see a doctor and get tested, the psychologist stressed.

Previously, WHO said that stress and anxiety during a pandemic are normal, and adhering to a daily routine, healthy diet, and physical activity is worth it to combat them. The reason for this state is the uncertainty in which people find themselves, as well as the new restrictions. People with pre-existing mental disorders and addictions have been found to be particularly vulnerable to stress.
