Rupert Grint broke the record for the best time by reaching one million followers on Instagram.

Guinness World Records says the Harry Potter actor managed to reach the goal in just four hours and a minute, after joining the site earlier this month.

The previous title holder – Sir David Attenborough – reached the same number in four hours and 44 minutes, beating Jennifer Aniston who previously held the title at five hours and sixteen minutes.

Grint used his first post to introduce his baby girl Wednesday to the world with a selfie.

He wrote: “Hey Instagram …. only 10 years late, but here I am. Grint on the Gram! Here to introduce you all Wednesday G. Grint. Be safe, Rupert.”

His Harry Potter co-star Tom Felton, who plays Draco Malfoy in the franchise, was among the first to respond by writing, “Welcome Weasley, the time has come. Love on Wednesday xx.”

After less than 24 hours on the social networking site, Grint had more than two million followers, including singer Ariana Grande and TV presenter Sir David Attenborough.

He now has more than 3.4 million followers and follows a variety of accounts, ranging from Greta Thunberg for Lewis Hamilton.

Grint and his partner Georgia Groome – a fellow actor – announced the birth of their first child in May.

The couple met on the set of the Angus comedy, Thongs And Perfect Snogging in 2008 and became a couple in 2011.
