Shortly after the release of the AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT and RX 6800 (test) based on the new RDNA-2 architecture and Navi-21 GPUs, there were the first rumors about the Radeon RX-6700 series. Like the Radeon RTX 6800 series, the smaller series should also consist of two graphics cards based on the Navi 22 GPU.
Radeon RX 6700 (XT) relies on Navi 22
Again, it’s Twitter’s usually well-informed nose @patrickschur_
, the first information about the AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT and RX 6700 should have leaked.
Unsurprisingly, both Radeon RX 6700 series graphics cards are based on the smaller Navi 22, also known as the “Navy Flounder”, with up to 40 CUs, 2,560 shaders and 12GB of GDDR6 video memory.
Video memory should – on par with the Radeon RX 6800 series – support the new AMD Infinity Cache technology for higher overall performance of the memory interface. In the case of Navi 22 XT (Radeon RX 6700 XT) and Navi 22 XTL (Radeon RX 6700), the memory bus should be only 192 bits wide. Navi 21 on the Radeon-RX-6800, on the other hand, can access a large 256-bit memory interface.
NV22 XT 186-211 W TGP (RX 6700 XT) 🧐
NV22 XTL 146-156W TGP (RX 6700?)
12GB GDDR6– Patrick Schur (@patrickschur_) November 20, 2020
Die Total Graphics Power (“TGP”) gibt Patrick Schur 186 to 211 watts for the Radeon RX 6700 XT and 146 to 156 watts for the Radeon RX 6700. The TGP of the direct predecessors Radeon RX 5700 XT and RX 5700 (test) was 225 and 180 watts, respectively.
If the latest rumors are confirmed, the Radeon RX 6000 series wallet with RX 6700 XT and RX 6700 could look like this:
With the Radeon RX 6700 (XT), AMD will want to position itself against Nvidia’s unofficial GeForce RTX 3060 Ti and GeForce RTX 3060, which, according to the latest rumors, are also in the starting blocks.
