Good news for Yamaha star Valentino Rossi: the 41-year-old Italian received a negative result in the Covid-19 test today. If the next PCR test is also negative, it can start from the European GP.
As Valentino Rossi again received a positive Covid 19 test result on Tuesday, Yamaha has already sent a replacement to Valencia with World Superbike Championship rider Garrett Gerloff. All hopes of a comeback by the “Doctor” are pinned by the test carried out on Thursday morning – and the result was even negative, as Yamaha has just confirmed.
According to the quarantine regulations currently in force in Italy, a negative test result is sufficient to be considered recovered after a Covid-19 infection and a ten-day isolation period. So Rossi was allowed to join Spain on Thursday night.
Under FIM rules, the nine-time world champion has to deliver another negative test result before he can return to the M1. This PCR test was scheduled for tomorrow, Friday. If the result were positive, Gerloff would be used.
