Rockets head coach Stephen Silas shuts down James Harden’s commercial rumors

The Houston Rockets have once again failed to put together a deep playoff series this year with James Harden as their leader. They were sent home by the Lakers only in the second round in five games.

This led to major frontline decisions about the Rockets. First, they replaced coach Mike D’Antoni with Stephen Silas. Afterward, the team relieved Daryl Morey from his front office duties.

Daryl Morey joined the 76ers as president of basketball operations, which sparked some commercial rumors. Specifically, due to Morey’s relationship with James Harden, people are speculating whether Morey can convince Harden to join Philly.

The Rockets coach responded to these rumors about ESPN’s First Take with Stephen A. Smith.

As for James [Harden], he is our boyfriend. During the interview process, I spoke to both James and Russ and let them know that the reason I want this job is because of them. So I expect those guys to be here. I haven’t heard anything else to the contrary, so that’s how I feel about it and that’s how it’s going to be. “

Silas’ comments will give Rockets fans a break. Plus, since Harden joined Houston, they haven’t missed the playoffs even once. However, winning an NBA championship is a different topic.

Next season, they need both Harden and Westbrook to bring their A-game if they want a chance to take the trophy home.

Will James Harden and Russell Westbrook redeem themselves?

Prior to joining the WCSF, Russell Westbrook was still recovering from an injury. Many believe it wasn’t 100% during the battle with LA. However, at the end of the day, Russ’s poor performance was the main reason for the Rockets’ demise.

Had he played as usual, there’s a chance the Rockets could have matched any champions better. But all that is past, they need to focus on the title fight next season.

If the dynamic pair fails to accomplish anything significant in the 2020-21 campaign, then it may be time to hit the panic button. Will the Rockets be successful with James Harden as their leader?
