Emblema MC has just released their first single, Paso certero.
The Resident Puerto Rican rapper has become the godfather of young Venezuelan Edward Madera, known in the art world as Emblema MC, whom he claims for the talent he holds and the loss it would mean to music if he stayed on the road.
“The mentality, his way of expressing himself. It is something exceptional for a person of only 16,” said René Pérez, the Puerto Rican artist’s first name this Friday, in an interview with Efe, who has become, exceptionally, in the career mentor of the 16-year-old Venezuelan rapper.
Under his sponsorship, Emblema MC has just released his first single, Paso certero.
“You have to help this ‘boy’,” said Residente, who has taken time out of a very difficult program involving music, writing and film, to direct the career of the one he believes is predestined to be a rap reference to. world level.
“You have to leave him on the track”, he stressed about Emblema MC, which reminds him of himself, but in his early thirties, a maturity that he is sure will be able to exploit in a promising musical career.
Theme I come from the future
The relationship between Resident and the Venezuelan rapper began with the diffusion of the video Emblema MC – I come from the future – arrived in Puerto Rico through social networks. Shocked, he became interested in the South American’s work.
Emblema MC is an exceptional specialist in improvised rap, better known as “freestyle”, in which he shone in competitions held in Venezuela.
The artist currently works with the IconicosMusic company and with them he has participated in several “freestyle” battles such as Caracas Rapea or Rap sin Fronteras.
“It reminds me of me, but when I was 28,” said Residente, who defines Emblema MC as very advanced and a figure that “will be very important to rap”.
His record
Residente added that thanks to his commitment he helps the Venezuelan in his next album.
The Puerto Rican explained that Emblema MC has eleven songs written, an example of the hard work of this very young rapper, who until now had distinguished himself for his improvisation in “Freestyle”.
“There are people who improvise and others who write, but this young man does both,” Residente said.
The Puerto Rican insisted that in no case has he become the career manager of new artists, but rather that he is helping “a 16-year-old genius”.
Hitherto little known outside the rap field in his country, he has participated in “frestyle” competitions in Venezuela such as Candy Word, Red Bull, BDM and Convite.
“I try to follow the right step in music”, stressed the young man, who assured that his goals happen because his work “reaches all corners of the world”.
As for his style, he acknowledged that Resident himself was a reference for him as a protest rapper.
“Residente’s lyrics are on another level,” said the Puerto Rican, for whom this style of music is his reference, even if, in the future, he does not exclude other styles.
“I’m not closed to mergers,” he admitted, after pointing out that he hopes that “Paso certero”, a topic that is on social networks and the YouTube video channel, will become a platform for his music.
