“During the examination in the clinic, the doctors found the tumor. It is aggressive and incurable,” Rainer Langhans said in an interview a month ago. Since she had pain when urinating, she had to do an exam. The sad certainty: the 80-year-old suffers from prostate cancer.

Now the former hippie icon is providing new insights into his health – and they’re not optimistic. “Doctors found small tumors in the hip, collarbone, lumbar vertebrae and rib arch,” Langhans said in an interview with “Bild”.

The founder of Kommune-1 learned this after undergoing a special MRI scan in the Klinikum rechts der Isar. The new diagnosis means: cancer is spreading. But Langhans does not give up and explains: “I will continue with the hormone therapy, which is working quite well, and I hope that the metastases do not proliferate.”

Chemotherapy is out of the question for him at the moment due to the “severe side effects”. Langhans in the interview: “Now I look step by step.” For this trip, the 68 icon also brought a film companion to the side. Langhans community friend Gisela Getty captures the fight against cancer on camera: “The film should encourage people to see cancer not as an enemy but as a friend to live with,” describes the project.

Rainer Langhans muse Jutta Winkelmann, twin sister of Gisela Getty, also suffered from cancer. Breast cancer was followed by bone cancer that lodged in her spine. She died of the disease in February 2017. Jutta Winkelmann died at the age of 67.
