A few days ago the rumor spread that the processor manufacturer Qualcomm had received a license from the US authorities to collaborate with Huawei.
Since rumors are usually based on a grain of truth, Qualcomm only confirmed this a few hours ago. The US manufacturer can supply mobile processors to Huawei, but they can only be compatible with 4G technology. Qualcomm cannot sell anything involving 5G technology to Huawei.
Qualcomm’s claims are rather vague, so we don’t yet know what types of processors they will be able to sell. It may be able to provide the latest Qualcomm processors without the built-in 5G modem. It remains to be seen.
It is certain that the United States is easing the situation somewhat, but I would be curious to know if these kind decisions are related to the presidential elections. I wouldn’t be surprised.
