Prince Charles, like many people in these pandemic times, discreetly celebrated his 72nd birthday on Saturday, DPA reports.

According to the Ministry of Defense, regular shootings across the country in honor of Charles’ birthday have been suspended this year due to the pandemic.

Charles’s eldest son Prince William posted his father’s birthday wishes on Twitter. On the Instagram of Clarence House, the official London residence of the Prince of Wales and his wife Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, the legend, together with a photo of Charles in kilt, expresses thanks for the good wishes.

Prince Charles had planned a trip to Berlin in the afternoon to celebrate the Sunday commemorating the victims of the two world wars and the Nazi regime, the Volkstrauertag, established in Germany in 1919, informs DPA.

This trip is the first overseas for the heir to the British royal throne since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, according to the British press.

Charles was infected with the coronavirus earlier this year, at the start of the pandemic, but is said to have only had cold-like symptoms.
