The price of the iPhone 3GS was expected to drop with the launch of the iPhone 4G. But this week, even before the launch of the next-generation iPhone, Walmart reduced the price of the 16GB version of the iPhone 3GS to $ 97. It now costs around $ 100 less than the previous price of $ 199.
Now that 16GB iPhone 3GS will cost $ 97, which is almost the same amount as the 8GB version of the iPhone 3G. This new deal will still be with a two-year contract with AT&T as a carrier.
Aside from the reduction in the price of the iPhone 3GS, another news is that Apple has stopped shipping the 8GB units of the iPhone 3G to AT&T stores and will not accept further orders. Additionally, the iPhone 3G is also not available on Walmart’s website.
This news appears to be in preparation for the iPhone 4G launch in a couple of weeks at WWDC.
